Queries

Email your query to  msgwsc_gmail.com

Queries sent to one of the counties that I host, must meet the criteria below.

Rules

  1. Queries must name specific persons being researched.
    • Queries that only give a surname will not be posted.
    • Instead, submit the surname for posting on our Surname Register
  2. Your query must STATE a connection to the county for the folks named in the query.
    • The connection may be as slim as the fact that you've seen similar names in records of the county, but ...
    • Stating that you're searching in the county is not good enough. There must be a reason to expect researcher in this county to recognize your family
  3. No Queries which are searches for the present location of living persons
    • I don't want to become embroiled in right-to-privacy controversies
  4. In the subject line or in the message text please state that it's for xxxxx Co QueryPage.
    • My crystal ball is foggy, and I host more than one county site. Unless you're specific about where to post it I must either guess or return the query for clarification.
  5. Make your query specific, but don't write a lengthy narrative. Try to keep them to 20 lines, but that's not a hard and fast rule.
    • No "Indented" or "Register" Reports, or other format that depends on specific line spacing.
    • With all the counties I host, the editing to add the HTML tags becomes an onerous workload
  6. Although not a requirement, it's nice to include your given name in the text.
    • It makes your query more personal, and more likely to receive a response

I'll post them, usually, within a day of receipt. Click on the poster's name/address to send a reply immediately.

CARBAUGH-
I
have a lot of links to Mercer co. One of them is George Carbaugh. George was a landowner in Mercer co. near what I think what is called the Green tree area(Courthouse Rd). I would like to know how to find the original deed to know if I can trace George back any further. He was supposed to have been born in Penn. In 1793. Some of his descendants still live in Mercer co to this day. I would imagine that George Carbaugh purchased this land in the mid 1850's.

DRYLIE, WHITE -
I am looking for information on my great-great uncle, Richard John White. According to the local newspaper, the Reynoldsville (PA) Star, he was killed in a mine in Freeman, WV, on March 17, 1893. He was born in Cornwall, England and immigrated to the USA, in 1880, with his family. He lived in Reynoldsville, PA. He married Ann Drylie on Nov. 25,1882, she died on September 19,1884 probably in Oak Ridge, Clarion Co. PA. Sometime after that Richard must have gone to West Virginia. I have not been able to find any information on his death. The newspaper article stated that his brothers " left Reynoldsville to attend the funeral, so he must have been buried down there. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you,

MARSHALL -
I am searching for info on my ggggg frandfather(parents) Allen Marshall Sr. Family info says he was a landowner in the early 1800's of extensive acreage in Mercer County. Multiple children including Allen Marshall Jr. who migrated to Barry County MO. in mid to late 1850's with son James Marshall. I think Allen Sr. was possibly a confederate sympathizer. Allen Jr. left for the west since he was probably Union prone. Allen Sr. willed Allen Jr.'s land, supposedly 2500 acres, to Allen Jr.'s son James. Neither Allen Jr. or son James returned and land was sold for taxes. ... Allen Sr. may have had a son William. ... I have been unable to learn anything beyond this about Allen Marshall Sr. Any assistance will be much appreciated.
