Looking for info on my greatgrand father Jack Pokley and his son, my grand father, Norman
or Naum Pokely. They both lived in Mercer county, Coaldale West Va. Both are buried in
Belcher cemetery in Coaldale. Both were from Russia (Ukraine) Norm Pokley was married to
Jennie and they had 10 children. My mother Catherine was the oldest. some of the neighbors were
Harry Whit, Charley Caskel, Conley Rakly. Thank you.

GODBEY, JENNINGS -
I am researching my family and my great grandfather John Godbey was shot and killed in Nov
1933 by a man named John Jennings. They both lived in Raleigh Co but the trial was moved
to Princeton ... I am not sure when the trial took place but I know it lasted 2 days and John
Jennings was found not guilty ... I was wondering if anyone could help me to find
newspaper story on it? I live in RI and any help would be much appreciated. Thanks so much,

HEARN, MARTIN -
My grandmother tells me that the Martins came from Ireland. My so far I have found no
prove of this. I found out a lot about my family from the book: Mercer County History
1984 on page 141, John Martin. I am from the Willian C. Martin line. So far
everyone who as contacted me has gone as far as I have. Daniel Martin f/o John
Martin came from Pennsylvania. I have not been able to go back any more. Can you help me
find a member of the Martin family or any one elses who cound give me more information?
Also do you know any thing about an "Irish" villiage or settlement in Giles Co. Virgina? If any
one is interested I have a picture of William C. Martin and Ann Hearn
Martin. I also have a picture of their son James B. Martin. His picture is on a
memorial plaque. James died during the Civil War. This was confirmed by the book "59th Virgina
Inf. The Va. Regimental Histories Series" According to my grandmother James came home from war
with a "fever". He died from the "fever" but not before he gave the "fever" to his grandfather
John Sr. Martin and his sister Nancy Jane Martin. Supposedly John Sr. and Nacy Jane
also died from the "fever". I have not been able to comfirm this information. Can anyone help me?

I am interested in the Tabor family in Mercer County. My Great-grandfather, Charles Edward
Tabor, his wife Lucy Rider Tabor and their family moved from Mercer County
to Lake County, Florida in 1913. I've wondered if there's any info in Mercer County about Charles
or any of his family (his father was Henry Harrison Tabor).

I am looking for information on Rachel Elizabeth Bailey who was born about 1869 and died
in July of 1920 in Bluefield. She married 1st George Washington Lee Honaker in 1891. they
were divorced and she married Neill Harland. Would like her birth and death information if
possible. And when she married Neill Harland. I have been told she died in a hospital in
Bluefield and is buried on the Bailey Farm in Matoaka. Have also been told it is not
accessible - so really need some help in information.

Edmund Browning and wife Cynthia Cadle lived in Mercer County from about 1849-1859.
I am seeking information on who Cynthia's family might be. I noticed on the 1850 Mercer County
Census that there were several other Cadles living in the same area as Edmund and Cynthia.

Mellie/Milly Wohner married Roscoe Pokley and then moved to the state of Michigan,

CROCKETT, CURTIN, PIERCE -
I am trying to ascertain the birth and death dates of my great grandmother. Her name is Eugenia,
called Jennie, Crockett. Her first marriage was to James Patrick Curtin of Wythe
Co. Va. He was killed on the Panama Canal. She then married Foster Pierce of Ivanhoe, Va.
I understand she died about 1947 and was buried at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, Va or WV.
Any suggestions how I can get info about her? Thanks
