In 1790 Summers County was part of Greenbrier and Montgomery Counties.

 In 1800 it was part of Monroe and Montgomery Counties.

 In 1830 it was part of Monroe
and Giles Counties.

 In 1840 it was part of Monroe
and Mercer Counties.

 In 1860 most of the County was in Raleigh, Monroe, and Mercer Counties.

 In 1871 Summers County was born.
