"Cadet Quillen Dies In Crash"

     "Aviation Cadet Max Quillen, 21, of the U. S. Naval Air Corps, was killed in an airplane collision near Converse, Ind. about 1:30 o'clock Tuesday afternoon in a routine flight. He was the son of Dr. and Mrs. Otis L. Quillen of this city.

     Report made by Lieut. Douglass Campbell, press relations officer at Bunker Hill Naval air station, where Cadet Quillen was stationed, said that he was alone in the plane at the time of the accident and that he was flying near the Bunker Hill air station at Peru, Ind.

     Cadet Quillen was a graduate of St. Marys High School class of 1941 and attended West Virginia University before entering the service. He left in the Flying Redbird Squadron from Parkersburg in April of last year and was only recently transferred to Indiana for advanced training. Another member of the squadron, Cadet Benjamin Coen, of this city, accompanied the body here.

     He leaves his parents and one sister, Miss. Lucille Quillen, a teacher in Elizabeth high school, and the maternal grandmother, Mrs. Ella Wolfe.

     C. A. Ruttencutter and Frank Ogdin went to Indiana and brought the body home.

     Funeral services will be held at the home at 10 o'clock Saturday morning and interment will be made in the Quillen family plot at Pomeroy, Ohio.
