I am looking for the given name for a Mr. Smith who was married to a Julia
Ann Ray in 1875-90 range. Julia later married John Madison (Mattison)
Shepherd and lived in Monroe County, WV. I think they must have married
around 1890. My father was born in 1894 and he had older siblings. Mr.
Smith died, but I do not have anymore information on him. Julia and Mr.
Smith had three children, Clarence, Mitty and Julia. Julia married a Barrett
and lived near Huntington/Charleston most of her life. Clarence married
Lillie Lafon and they lived in Mercer County. Mitty married a Lafon, but
I do not know her location. I am hoping if I can find Mr. Smith's given
name that I will be able to find more information on Julia, who is/was
my Grandmother. I have not been able to determine the name of her parents.
I know there were Ray siblings in the area. One of my Grandfather's sisters
married Julia's brother. His name was Joe(Joseph) Ray. There are several
Rays buried at Waiteville, ! WV in an area called Ray Hollow. If anyone
has any information, it would be appreciated. Betty Shepherd Williams

I have found a large amount of info on the web regarding the FOSTER line.
The earliest ancestor I can identify is Hiram H. Foster, b 1834 Monroe.
There is a record of Hiram Foster b abt 1805 Monroe (a s/o Michael Miles
Foster and Mary Polly Scott), so my "working theory" is that 1805 Hiram
is either the father of or possibly an uncle to my 1834 Hiram. According
to what I found, 1805 Hiram moved to Todd Co KY bef 1830. Can anyone offer
any info at all about these folks? Am I totally off base here or is my
idea a possibility? I'd like to hear from anyone with any ideas either
way, and thanks!

William's father was the Thomas Stuart Walker b. about 1802 who married
Christine Waggoner, and that his father was Thomas Walker who married
Eleanor Stuart and that older Thomas Walker's father was Thomas Walker
and Elizabeth Taylor. I can't see how this fits in the text of Walker
Family History by June Ashworth. If anyone knows anything about this Walker
