McDowell County Queries - 2009

Does anyone know if there are cemetery lot drawings for plots at the Mullins Cemetery?  My sister-in-law found recently that she had a half brother no one ever talked about.  He died on 9/14/43 at 1 ½  with pneumonia and is buried in that cemetery, according to his death certificate.  His name is Bobby Jene Adkins, and I did not see his name on the list.  He is related to the Payne’s buried there; his mother was Bertha Payne.  I saw several listings of graves with no markings near many of the Payne’s.  I have run into a situation similar to this where the family had a plot and could afford to bury but not mark a grave.  If you can assist, thank you in advance. If not, is there a place you could lead me to for information of this sort? Thanks, Dale White (dawhite2@verizon.net).

I am looking for my Brewster kin who were in the Confederate army. I am also kin to Whitts, Wyatts, and Days, Woolridges, and Peerys. Some of these family were from Tazewell and Russell Co, Va. I am also related to the Surber family. My Owens kin were from Davidson Co, NC. Most Surbers were from Smyth Co, Va. Richardsons. Poes and Reedys from Ashe Co NC. I was born and raised and lived in Ccdowell and was in the army 1970 to 1974, with the 101st Airborne Div 1/502 infantry and co c 87th infantry in Vietnam, I wouldn't mind finding my cousins who still live there in Mcdowell.  Thank you!
