DURING POLIO FUND DRIVE OF 1950s
Submitted by Joyce Webster.
During the Polio epidemic of the 1950s, Homer Webster, a member of the Moundsville Lions Club, pushed a wheelbarrow from Wheeling to Moundsville to collect money for the March of Dimes. Newspaper articles tell the story of this endeavor.
Homer Webster lived in Moundsville with his wife, Mildred (Wright), and their children Jay and Carol. Later in the 1950s, they moved to California.
