Olive Marie Stallman Kaneff, 79, Leisure City, Fla. died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 20 in the James Archer Hospital in Homestead, Fla.

She was born Nov. 17, 1910 in Grantsville, W.Va.

On April 29, 1933 she was married to Howard E. Kaneff, who died March 21, 1967.

Three daughters survive; Judith Kaneff of the home, Mrs David Ratner of Marietta, Ga. and Mrs Meredith Spikes of Bellevue, Texas; four step daughters, Mrs Robert Mills, Mrs Gilbert Shears, and Mrs Dorothy Goodwill all of Marietta and Mrs Paul Nesper of Muncie, Ind.; 12 grandchildren.

Services were held Friday at the Branam Funeral Home in Homestead. Committal services will be held at East Lawn Memorial Park at 10 a.m. Monday with the Rev. Donald Shuler officiating. McClure-Schafer Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James O. Keenan, 74, of 609 Lulu St., died yesterday afternoon in Worthington Manor Nursing Home after a long illness.

Born in Jackson County, he was a son of the late Joseph V. and Effie May Shannon Keenan. He had been employed by Leavitt and Co. for 34 years until his retirement in 1964. He was active in hunting and sportman circles and was a former member of the Butcher Hill Hunt Club.

Survivors include his wife, Ella Blanche Grimm Keenan; one brother, Gary Keenan of Parkersburg; and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Leavitt Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the IOOF Cemetery.

Friends may call at the funeral home from 2 to 4 and from 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday.

Services were held Saturday afternoon at the Orma Methodist Church for Mrs Louise Keener, 79, of Orma, who died March 7, in Sheppard Nursing Home in Ellensboro after a long illness. the rev. Kenneth Cruickshank officiated, followed by burial in *Lower Big Run Cemetery.

She was a lifelong resident of Calhoun County and a member of the Baptist Temple of Ravenna, Ohio.

Rev. Dr. LeRoy M. Keeney, 83, of St. Albans, died Wednesday, June 9, 2004.

He was retired pastor of Highlawn Baptist Church, St., Albans, having served from 1949-1986. After retirement, he served as interim minister for First Baptist Church, Dunbar, Main Street, Baptist Church, Point Pleasant, and Calvary Baptist Church, Charleston.

He graduated from Charleston High School, attended Alderson-Broaddus College and received a bachelor of arts degree from Morris Harvey College in 1943. He graduated from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary in 1946 and was awarded an honor­ary Doctor of Divinity degree from Alderson-Broaddus in 1973 and served as a member of its board of trustees for over 10 years. He served over 25 years as president of West Virginia Baptist Education Society and was a founder of St. Albans Ministerial Association and served as its president. He was a member of St. Albans Rotary Club, chairman of the first committee to develop Parchment Valley Conference Center, and was a volunteer chaplain at Thomas Memorial Hospital.

Surviving are his wife of 62 years, Theresa Knapp Keeney; one daughter, Rebecca Palmer of Charleston; one son, Stanley Keeney of Chagrin Falls, Ohio; four grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; and one sister, Mrs. Wirt Harmon of Paris, Tenn.

Services were held at Highlawn Baptist Church with Rev. Joe, Hyde and Rev. Cyril Johnson officiating. Burial was in Sunset, Memorial Park, South Charleston.

She was born in Roane County, the daughter of the late James A. and Emma Webb Keffer. She worked at Ohio Valley Nursing Home for 10 years as a nurse's aide and was a member of Epling Baptist Church, Roane County.

Surviving are one daughter, Karen Richards of Marathon, Fla.; one son, James M. Keffer of Vienna; four grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and one sister, Esther Parsons of Mt. Zion.

She was preceded in death by her husband, James E. Keffer, and several brothers and sisters.

Services were held at Lambert-Tatum Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with Rev. Joe Law officiating. Burial was in Clover Cemetery, Roane County.

She was born in Akron, Ohio, the daughter of the late Otis and Ethel Underwood. She retired from Edwin Shaw Hospital with over 20 years of service.

Surviving are her second husband, Dale Keirns; one son, Roy Starcher; four daughters, Kathy Taylor, Robin Larrick, Sandy Monk and Teresa Starcher; four step-children, Karen Connell, Dale Keirns, Jr., Kimberly LaMay, and Randy Keirns; 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; five step-grandchildren; four step-great­-grandchildren; and two sisters, Gloria and Joyce.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Starcher of Calhoun County, in 1994; three brothers; and two sisters.

Keith; six grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; one great-great-grand-child; one aunt, Madge Huber, with whom he resided during most of his early life; two cousins, James Huber and Shirley Mehl; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one infant daughter, Frances Keith; one son, David Keith; and one sister, Ora Heckert.

She was born at Freed, the daughter of the late James B. and Esther Evelyn Busch Snider. She was a homemaker and retired to Brohard in 1991. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Jackson, Ohio, attended Strait Creek Baptist Church, Brohard, and was a member of Baptist Women's organization.

Surviving are one brother, Bob Snider of Brohard; one sister, Luella Maze of Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Odis Kellar, in 1988; one son, Gerald Keith Kellar, in 1930; six brothers, Donald Snider, Basil Snider, Rex Snider, Ted Snider, Tony Snider and Eugene Snider; and one sister, Lucinda Davis.

He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late John Wade and Lora Mae Richards Kellar.

He was a retired construction worker and a veteran of the Air Force and Army.

Surviving are two daughters, Barbara Helen Evans of Spring, Texas, and Lora Ann Kellar of Salem; one son, Therman Wade Kellar of Mobile, Ala.; two grandchildren; two sisters, Virginia Kellar Bennett of Devola, Ohio, and Rosalie Kellar Bennett Rae of Marietta, Ohio; special nephew, Herb Kendall of Clarksburg; special lifelong friend, William "Jr." Bennett of Belpre, Ohio; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by the mother of his children, Lila Mae Koon Kellar Nayedo of Houston, Tex.; his second wife, Pearl Nichols Kellar; three brothers, Charles, Richard and David Kellar; and two sisters, Laura Kellar and Hazel Kellar Kendall.

Wauneta Belle Goff Keller, 83, of Burnt House, died Monday, Mar. 27, 2006, at her home.

She was born in Ritchie County, the daughter of the late Trevy and Loretta Black Goff. She graduated from Harrisville High School and earned an associates degree from Parkersburg Community College. She worked for Ritchie County Community Action.

Surviving are three sons, Douglas and Thomas, at home, and Alan of Parkersburg; one daughter, Nina Wilson of Parkersburg; five grandchildren; two step-grandchildren; three great-granddaughters; four sisters, Wanda Keller (her twin), Wilda Billey, Wilma Riddle and Winifred Eddy; and one brother, Leon Goff.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Claude Keller; one son, Ernest Claude Keller II; infant daughter, Linell Doreen Keller; infant granddaughter, Valerie Dawn Wilson; and one grandson, Jason Keller.

As per her wishes, after donating the body for research, her ashes will be interred next to her husband, son and daughter.

Memorial service will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Burnt House Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to Douglas and Thomas Keller Trust, Calhoun Banks, P.O. Box 430, Grantsville, WV 26147. Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, is in charge of arrangements.

He was born at White Pine, the son of the late Grover C. Kelley and Edna Roberts Kelley. He was a World War II Navy veteran, serving in the Pacific Theater. He retired in 1979 from Union Carbide Metals, Marietta, after 27 years of service. He was a member of Local 3639 Oil, Chemical and Atomic Workers Union. He was a Baptist.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Hazel Nicholas Kelley; two daughters, Delilah Potter of Little Hocking, Ohio, and Sharon Phillips of Parkersburg; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; and one sister, Ermal Radabaugh of Parkersburg.

He was preceded in death by one sister.

Surviving are two daughters, Delilah L. Potter of Little Hocking, Ohio, and Sharon M. Phillips of Parkersburg; nine grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one step-great-grandson; and several nieces and nephews.

She was a retired school teacher, having taught in the one-room Deep Valley School, Mt. Zion. She and her husband were owner/operators of Kelley's Store, Mt. Zion. She was a member of DAR, Daughters of the Confederacy, Colonial Dames of the 17th. Century and Rebecca Lodge.

Surviving are three grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest L. Kelley, in 1975; one son, Richard H. Kelley; three sisters, Janice Crumley, Geraldine Perrin and Bernice Hays; and one niece.

Graveside services were held at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, with Rev. Rich McClure officiating.

Lookout, Keith and Jessica Heiney of Grantsville, Mark Kendall of. Alliance and Ronnie and Travis Kendall of Norton; best friend, Mary Kendall Fowler of Stumptown; two sisters, Florence Wilson of Grantsville and Della Deuley of Walker; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Merle Bowers of Elizabeth; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Hamilton Keith Kendall; two brothers, Tracy and Troy Richards; one son-in-law, Pete Conrad; and one granddaughter, Helen Marie Conrad.

Catherine "Cathy" Lean Kenavan, 48, of Lititz, Pa., died Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2003, in Lancaster Regional Medical Center.

She was born in Massillon, Ohio, the daughter of Esther L. Wright Moyers Morris Reidenbach of Lititz, Pa., and the late Elmer Floyd Morris, Jr.

She was head teller at Waypoint Bank, Lititz, and was active in raising funds for the Make-A-Wish Foundation's annual truck convoy. She had previously worked for 20 years on the office staff of Floral Creations, Lancaster, and managed its flower shop, Christies, of Harrisburg, Pa.

Surviving in addition to her mother are her special friend, Thomas P. Wagner of Lititz; one son, Garrett of Lititz; two sisters, Sandra Sue Field and Marie Witmer, both of Lancaster; two half-sisters, Doris (Peggy) Kennedy of Brookpark, Ohio, and Bonnie K. Simpson of Smithville; one half-brother, Danny G. Moyers of Dixon, Ill.; one nephew; and five nieces, including Venus Byrd and Vonda Furr of Smithville, Vicki Jones of Big Springs and Christina Jones of Brohard.

Burial was in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Ephrata, Pa.

Charles "Roger" Kendall, 50, of Elyria, Ohio, died Monday, Aug. 7, 2006, at Northridge Health Center, North Ridgeville, Ohio.

He was born in Stumptown, the son of Charles R. and Beverla H. Bennett Kendall of Stumptown. He was a 1965 graduate of Calhoun County High School and worked in the shipping department of General Plug, Grafton, Ohio, for 26 years. He had played country music with Country Class and Countrymen, and bluegrass and gospel with Kendall Family, Harmony Bluegrass, Harris Family and Backporch Boys.

Surviving in addition to his parents are his friend and care-giver, Kate Modock; one son, Charles R. Kendall, Jr., and wife Crystal of Grantsville; one sister, Conna L. Harris and husband Alva of Mineral Wells; one brother, Rev. Kenneth E. Kendall and wife Beverly of Clarksburg; and three grandchildren.

Services will be held Friday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. John Vannoy officiating. Burial will be in Collins Cemetery, Stumptown. Hatzell K. (Pat) Kendall, 65, of Walker, died Thursday, June 4, 2009, at home. He had been diagnosed with cancer.

He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late Holly and Delphia Kendall.

He retired as a truck driver with 40 years of service.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Gloria; two sons, Frank L. Kendall of Williamstown and James P. Kendall of Walker; two grandchildren; one brother, Frank D. Kendall of New Martinsville; one sister, Tessa Elliott of Casa Grande, Ariz.; and several cousins, nieces and nephews, including special nephew, Paul Jenkins; and special cousin, Bill Hoover.

He was preceded in death by two brothers, Haymond P. Kendall and Virgil A. Kendall, and two sisters, Verl Boone and June Poling.

Margaret Lee "Parge" McCartney Kent, 76, of Machipongo, Va., died Tuesday, Apr. 10, 2007, at home.

She was born in Index, the daughter of the late Sylvanus and Alice Goff McCartney. She grew up on Lower Run, Gilmer County, the youngest of 19 children. She graduated from Calhoun County High School in 1949 and attended Glenville State College. She worked as an operator for Chesapeake and Potomac Telephone Co., Baltimore, Md., and retired from the company while working in Connecticut.

Surviving are her husband of 45 years, Richard Franklin "Dick" Kent, Jr.; one daughter, Laura Moon of Baltimore; one step-son, Richard Franklin "Fred" Kent III of Baltimore; one grandson; one sister, Myrtle Roberts of Stumptown; and two brothers, Sull McCartney of Glenville and Donald McCartney of Stumptown.

She was preceded in death by 11 sisters, Opal Roberts, Dessell Stump, Ella Lambert, Fanny Stump, Gladys Mahaney, Mabel Mahaney, Melva Robinson, Marbie Smith, Myrtha Morris, Madeline Engle and Mary Bowe, and brothers, Herldon, Kester, Loren and Hunter McCartney.

Services were held at Fox and James Funeral Home, Eastville, Va., with burial in Bethlehem Cemetery, near Grantsville.

Zion and Timothy Kerby and wife Marjorie of Berkeley Springs; one daughter, Deborah Riddel and husband Robert of Mt. Zion; six grandchildren, Ryan Riddel of Maui, Hawaii, Jessica Self of Dusk Camp, Kara riddle, Moe riddle and Britney Riddel, all of Mt. Zion, and Jessica Kerby of Berkeley Springs; one sister, Donna Erlewine of Grantsville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Janet Geiger and Joyce Plant; and one grandson, Jeffrey Kerby.

Chuck was preceded in death by his parents, Simon and Glena Robinson Kerby, formerly of Mt. Zion, West Virginia. He was also a graduate of Calhoun County High School, Grantsville, WV.

Charles is survived by his wife, Marcia; son Ken and wife Gerrilynn of Bellevue; grandchildren Nathan and Sarah.

He was a past president of NTA and was selected to Nebraska Trap Shooting Hall of Fame.

He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Loney Kerby and Effie Cunningham Kerby.

He was a 1954 graduate of Calhoun County High School and attended Glenville State College where he received a teaching certificate. He taught at Little Creek and Pine Alley schools. He retired from American General Life Insurance Co. after 25 years. He attended Big Island Run Church and performed with Calhoun Cousins music group.

Surviving are his wife of 52 years, Betty Kerby; one daughter, Kathy Boston of Ellenboro; one son, Gregory Alan Kerby of Elizabeth; six grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by Jack Kerby and Gladiola (Dot) Davis, infant brother and sister.

He worked in area oil and gas fields all of his life. He was a member of Mt. Zion United Methodist Church and a founding member of Lemuels Run Hunting Club.

Surviving is his wife of 68 years, Mildred Stump Kerby.

Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. Rick Swearingen officiating. Burial was in Bethlehem Cemetery, near Grantsville.

He was born in Calhoun County and was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. He retired from the W.Va. Dept. of Highways and was a member of Mt. Olive United Methodist Church, Hur.

Surviving are one daughter, Rose Pursley and her husband Roy of Grantsville; three brothers, Kose Whytsell, Eugene Whytsell and Brent Whytsell; four sisters, Kathryn Ladd, Jewell Marsh, Louise Nevitt and Geneva Morgan; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eulah Kerby, and two brothers.

Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Mt. Zion Cemetery.

Mary Eleanor Bagwell Kern, 71, of Victorville, Calif., died at Loma Linda Hospital.

She was born in Lewis County, the daughter of the late Arlo and Mona Bagwell, and lived most of her life in Southern California.

Surviving are two daughters, Sharon Yanero of Grantsville and Sue Bergstrom of California; two sons, Jack Williams and Billy Williams, both of California; two sisters, Vella Cayton of Gassaway and Vivian Leary of Florida; five grandchildren, Sheena Conners of Weirton, Thomas Yanero of Glenville, Nichole Yanero of Grantsville and Tony Costanza and Jay Costanza, both of California; and three great-grandchildren, Jacob, McKenzie and Zack Yanero of Grantsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Kern; one sister, Juanitia Decker; and two brothers, Bud Bagwell and Jack Bagwell.

At her request, she was cremated and brought back to West Virginia. Memorial service was held at Kern Memorial Chapel, Victorville.

Delford "Buck" Kerns, 86, died Sunday, Sept. 7, 2003, at Miletree Center, Spencer.

He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late George B. and Della Gay Kerns. He served in the U.S. Army for four years and was discharged Feb. 14, 1946, with the rank of sergeant. He retired from Boeing Co., Wichita, Kan., and did a lot of work in the taxidermy field before and after returning to Calhoun County from Kansas.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Eula Hall Kerns.

Graveside services were held at Barr Cemetery, near Grantsville, with Rev. Rick Metheney officiating.

He was born in Gilmer County, the son of the late Isaiah and Martha Simmons Kerns. He was retired from W.Va. Dept. of Highways in Gilmer county and was a former teamster in the oil and gas field and a timberman and construction worker.

Surviving are six sons, Russell Kerns of Jane Lew, Vernon Kerns of Shock, Carlon, Delvis and Allen Kerns, all of Elyria, Ohio, and Junior Kerns of Wooster, Ohio; three daughters, Evelyn Barnett, Norma Cummings and Loretta Carr, all of Elyria, Ohio; 26 grandchildren; and 36 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Goldie Rexroad Kerns; one son, Wilbur Kerns; and one daughter, Naomi Ewing.

Services will be held Thursday, 10 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with burial in Stalnaker Cemetery, Glenville. Visitation was scheduled at the funeral home from 5 to 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Surviving are her husband, Delcord Kerns; three sons, Donzil R. Hall of St. Paris, Ohio, Paul E. Hall of Alliance, Ohio, and Darius W. Hall of Wooster, Ohio; three daughters, Laura McAskill of Santa Ana, Calif., Nina R. Hall of Long Beach, Calif., and Norma Pearman of American Fork, Utah; four sisters, Opal Jett and Bernice Laughlin, both of Arnoldsburg, Madge McKown of Beech and Marie McKown of Doylestown, Ohio; two brothers, Clyde Houchin and Grover Houchin, Jr., both of Arnoldsburg; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Doy Hall; one brother, Forrest Houchin; and one sister, Ruth Simmons.

Edna M. Kight

Edna Mae Kight, 88, passed away Dec. 28, 2005, at Minnie Hamilton Health Care, Long-Term Care Facility.

She was born April 23, 1917, in Ritchie County, the daughter of Harvey and Daisy Butcher Atkinson. Edna retired from the U.S. Postal Service, having worked at the Five Forks Post Office for 24 years. She has also worked at Howes Department Store and Gherke's Department Store in Grantsville. She was a member of Pleasant Hill CEOS for 69 years, NAPUS and a member of Pleasant Hill United Methodist Church.

She is survived by two daughters, Patricia Radabaugh (Duane) and Leota Grimm; three grandchildren, Michael Radabaugh (Brenda), Marcia Swisher (Bobby) and Rebecca Stephens (Vernon); three great-grandchildren, Amber Long and husband, Chris, Tiffany Swisher and Brittany Stephens; and a great-great-granddaughter, Mikaela Long.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Henry Kight in 1981; three brothers, Homer, Orin and Arch Atkinson; and a sister, Grace Craddock.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville with the Rev. Carroll McCauley and the Rev. Rick Metheney officiating. Interment will be in the Pleasant Hill Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.

He served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II in North Africa. He was retired from Gravely Tractors with 30 years of service as a parts and service manager. He was a Christian.

Surviving are his wife of 54 years, Jessie Lee Kight; two daughters, Pam Hayes of Dunbar and Beth Williamson of Cross Lanes; six grandchildren; two brothers, Freddie C. Carl Lee King, born in an automobile enroute to a Parkersburg hospital on Saturday evening, died Monday morning in a hospital there.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Junior Bill King of Big Bend. The child was born prematurely at Kanawha Station, Wood County, while the Kings were being transported to the hospital in an automobile driven by Earl Yost of Big Springs. They were accompanied by Virginia Yost of Big Springs.

They continued on to the hospital where the 18-year-old mother and infant were admitted. The baby weighed 3 lbs., 5 ½ ozs.

Services were held at Taylor Cemetery with Rev. Hazel Haddox officiating.

GEORGE LEWIS KING

George Lewis King, 77, of Parkersburg, died Monday, Dec. 10, 2001, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.

He was born in Grantsville, the son of the late Emmons Theodore and Katherine Hannah Parry King. He was a U.S. Army World War II veteran, serving in the 501st regiment, 101 Airborne Division. He became a prisoner of war at age 19 after being captured on D-Day, June 6, 1944, in the Normandy Invasion. He was a POW for almost a year before escaping in May, 1945. He was retired from DuPont and was a member of First Lutheran Church and American Legion Post 15.

Surviving are two daughters, Linda VonLoh and her husband, Larry of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Becky Buckley of Gardner, Kan.; three grandchildren; one great-grandson; and one sister, Grace Stump of Sand Ridge.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Ted King, and one brother, Elliott Haught.

Services were held in Olathe. Burial was in Old Monticello Cemetery, Shawnee, Kan.

Surviving are his wife, Evelyn Raye Gilkeson King; three sons, Blame King of Orma, William R. (Rusty) Austin of Old Town, Md., and Wade A. Austin of Woodriver, Neb.; two daughters, Sandie Clifton of Patrick Springs, Va., and Leslie Truelove of Cleveland, Ga.; one foster daughter, Lisa Kincaid of Florida; three sisters, Goldia Campbell of Belpre, Ohio, Ellen Laffree of Harrisville and Mary Ide of Columbus, Ohio; 14 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Garnet Heinzman King; one daughter, Billy Jean King Sypolt; and three infant siblings.

He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a U.S. Air Force veteran of the Korean War. He was preceded in death by one brother, Boyd Kerby, and one great-grandson, Auston Hart.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Geraldine Bell Kirby, and three brothers, Boyd, Delbert and Forrest Kirby.

Erma Lucille Kline, 85, of Las Vegas, Nev., died Thursday, Nov. 17, 2005.

She was born in Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Willie and Ina Richards Simmons and oldest of 15 children. She worked for 14 years at Westinghouse plant, Fairmont, before moving to California after getting married on July 28, 1955. She and her husband retired in Yuma, Ariz. She lived in Nevada the last 15 years.

Surviving were four sisters, Ruby Myel McHenry of Grantsville, Sara Cool of Worthington, Pearl Heiney of Glenville and Sandra Spence of Strongsville, Ohio (since deceased); five brothers, Earl Simmons of Cleveland, Ohio, Bearl Simmons and Cecil Simmons, both of Eastlake, Ohio, Henry Simmons of Lakeland, Ohio, and Eugene Simmons of Las Vegas; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Kline, on Nov. 18, 1990; sister, Sandra Louise Spence; and five infant siblings, Nettie, Mettie, Elodene, Eamestine and Orval Simmons.

In accordance with her wishes, her remains were cremated.

Graveside services were held Jan. 30. Her urn was placed with her husband in Arlington National Cemetery.

GROVER LEE KNIGHT

Grover Lee Knight, 63, of Big Bend, died Friday, May 14, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Parkersburg.

He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Hobert Clay Knight and Maxine Richards Knight.

Surviving are his wife, Diana Osborne Knight; one daughter, Anna Jarvis of Big Springs; two sons, Grover Knight, Jr., and Scottie Knight, both of Big Bend; four sisters, Bythe Kendall of Grantsville, Emma Roberson and Linda Knight, both of Big Bend, and Virginia Wager of Big Springs; four brothers, Hobert Knight, Jr., of Elizabeth, General Knight and Ricky Knight, both of Big Springs, and Roy Knight of Big Bend; and five grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at Taylor Cemetery, Big Bend, with Rev. Alfred Hickman officiating. There was no visitation.

KATHARINA JOSAPHINE KNIGHT

Katharine Josaphine Knight, 74, of Petersburg, Va., died Thursday, Dec. 13, 2001, at her home.

She was born in Kalsdorf, Rumania, the daughter of William and Josaphine Preiss. Along with a brother, sister and their mother, she survived being in a German prison camp during World War II. After their release, the family moved to Hevchlina, Germany, to live. She trained to be a nurse, and it was there she met and later married Olen C. Knight. After being discharged from the U.S. Army, they resided at Pleasant Hill for a while.

Surviving are her husband of 53 years, Olen C. Knight of 1813 Brandon Ave., Petersburg, VA 23805, originally from Calhoun County; one former daughter-in-law, Ruth, and two grandchildren, Laura and Brian Knight, all of Petersburg; one chosen son, Lee Akers and wife April; one son, Aaron of Richmond, Va.; and several brothers, sisters, nieces and nephews in the Calhoun area.

She was preceded in death by one son, William V. Knight.

Memorial service was held in Petersburg.

THELMA KNIGHT

Thelma McDonald Knight, 24, died Jan. 29, 1930, at Hopemont, where she had been a patient since Nov. 26.

She was born at Pittsburgh, Pa., the daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Theodore McDonald of Richardson. After the death of her parents when she was three, she was raised by an aunt, Mrs. Roy Hendershot of Richardson, until 1923 when she married.

Surviving are her husband, Hale Knight of Big Bend; two daughters, Betty Lou, age three, and Mary Lorraine, 18 months; grandfather, Nathan McDonald of Triplett; one aunt, Mrs. Liddie Hendershot Ferguson of Akron, Ohio; and four uncles, N.F. McDonald of Leachtown, Samuel McDonald of Akron, and Perry and Charlie, both of Triplett.

She was preceded in death by one brother.

Services were held at her home at Big Bend with Rev. M.P. Lowe, pastor of Bethlehem Church, Grantsville, officiating.

Carroll V. Knotts, 66, of Coolville, Ohio, died Saturday, May 16, 2009, at his home.

He was born at Minnora, the son of Perry Edward and Greeta Knotts.

He was a 1960 graduate of Calhoun County High School and worked 23 years at E.I. DuPont, Washington Works.

Surviving are his wife of 49 years, Carolyn Brown Knotts; two daughters, Robin May and Kimberly Arnold; one son, Eric Knotts; four grandchildren; four step-grandchildren; three step-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Fern Deel and Glenna Carpenter; and one brother, Harry Knotts.

He was preceded in death by one brother, Ronald Knotts.

Services were scheduled Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, Belpre, Ohio, with Pastor Tim Lindsey and Robert May officiating, and burial in Torch Cemetery.

Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, one hour prior to services, at the funeral home.

Delma Knotts, 93, of Walker, died Monday, Feb. 26, 2001, at her residence.

She was born in Braxton County, the daughter of the late David and Mary Nottingham Hall. She was a resident of Orma for many years and was a member of Elmira Baptist Church, Elmira.

Surviving are two daughters, Anna Lee Byers of Walker and Virginia Johnson of Tampa, Fl.; two grandsons, Gregory and Steven Johnson, both of Montgomery, Ala.; one great-granddaughter, Julie Vineyard of Arnoldsburg; one great-great-granddaughter, Victoria Vineyard of Arnoldsburg; and four great-great-grandsons, Cole, Ross, Hayes and Zane Vineyard, all of Arnoldsburg.

She was preceded in death by her husband, John R. Knotts, and two granddaughters, Debbie Hays and Vicky McKinley.

Services will be held Thursday, 2:30 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Elder Charles Fisher and Elder Richard Westfall officiating, and burial in Knotts Cemetery, Arnoldsburg. Visitation was scheduled from 5 to 7 p.m. on Wednesday and after 9 a.m. on Thursday.

Edward C. Knotts, 83, of Walker, died Friday, Nov. 13, 2009, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Parkersburg.

He was born in Minnora, the son of the late C.A. and Eva Campbell Knotts.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving in the South Pacific during World War II. He and his wife operated Knotts Store, Leachtown, for 15 years.

Surviving are his wife of 61 years, Peggy Wilson Knotts; one son, David Knotts of Canton; five grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his son, Edward C. Knotts, and two sisters, Betty Papas and Iris Douglas. Leavitt Funeral Home, Parkersburg, is assisting the family with cremation arrangements.

Eva Mae Collins Knotts of Springfield, OH passed away August 14, 2007 in a Springfield hospital.

She was born at Index, Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Harley and Ruth Stump Collins and was a homemaker.

She is survived by one son, William Brent Knotts, four grandchildren, several great-grandchildren; one sister, Zella Collins Leitch of Hinckley, Ohio; son-in-law, James Gilmore of Springfield and numerous extended family members.

She was preceded in death by her husband Russell "Dubb" Knotts; one daughter, Alberta Gilmore. one granddaughter; one brother, Elbert "Buck" Collins; four sisters, Hazel Knotts, Atha Sayre, Ethel Brown, and Olive Sanger.

In compliances with her wishes, her remains were donated to the Ohio State University School of Medicine. There were no services.

Frances L. Knotts, 74, of Auburndale, Fla., died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009, of cancer. She was born at Stinson and attended school in Calhoun County. She was co-owner of a tax business with her husband for 38 years.

Surviving are her husband of 57 years, Harry Knotts; two sons, Danny E. Knotts and Garry W. Knotts, both of Auburndale; one daughter, Susan Dirr of Powder Springs, Ga.; nine grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Graveside services were held at Auburndale Memorial Park.

George W. Knotts, 92, of Orma, died Monday, Mar. 13, 2000, at Laurel Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Big Otter.

He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Warren and Cordelia Short Knotts. He was a sawmill operator and farmer and was a member of Ebenezer Baptist Church, Orma.

Surviving are four sons, George Knotts, Jr., of Milan, N. M., and James Knotts, Bruce Knotts and Glenn Knotts, all of Orma; seven grandchildren; and five great- grandchildren.

Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Carl Marks officiating. Burial was in Knotts Cemetery, Arnoldsburg.

Hazel V. Collins Knotts, 91, formerly of Steer Creek, died Friday, Nov. 7, 2003, at the home of her daughter in Grantsville.

She was born at Index, Gilmer County, the daughter of the late Harley B. and Ruth Stump Collins. She had worked as a private dressmaker in Grantsville and later for Rubber Fabricators. She was a member of Rush Run Baptist Church, near Stumptown, and was active in church activities. She was a member of Calhoun Historical Society and Rush Run Homemaker's Club.

Surviving are two sons, James Earl Knotts of Mineral Wells and Thomas Mark Knotts of Corning, N.Y.; one daughter, Norma Knotts Shaffer of Grantsville; two sisters, Eva Collins Knotts of Springfield, Ohio, and Zella Collins Leitch of Hinckley, Ohio; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert J. Knotts, Jr., whom she married in 1935; three sisters, Atha Collins Smith Sayre, Ethel Collins Brown and Olive Collins Price Sanger; one brother, Elbert "Buck" Collins; and two grandchildren.

Services were held at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville. Burial was in Knotts Cemetery, Orma.

Linda Kay Smith Knotts, 55, of Mineral Wells, died Saturday, Jan. 4, 2003, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Parkersburg, the daughter of Olandus Coleman and Nannie Mae McCoy Smith of MacFarlan. She was a graduate of Harrisville High School and Parkersburg Beauty College. She worked as a hairdresser in Parkersburg for several years. She was a member of Pettyville United Methodist Church, serving in many leadership capacities.

Surviving in addition to her parents are her husband of 37 years, James Earl Knotts; mother-in-law, Hazel Knotts of Grantsville; one daughter, Aleacia Peer of Halifax, Va.; one granddaughter, Ashley Peer of Halifax; one sister, Diana Evans of Mineral Wells; two brothers, Robert Smith of Mineral Wells and Richard Lewis of Davisville; one brother-in-law, Thomas Knotts of Coming, N.Y.; one sister-in-law, Norma Shaffer of Grantsville; five nephews; seven nieces; and 12 great-nieces and great­-nephews.

She was preceded in death by one brother, Olandus "Buddy" Smith; father-in-law, Robert Joseph Knotts, Jr.; and one brother-in-­law, Dallas R. Evans.

Services were held at Lambert-Tatman Funeral Home, South Parkersburg, with Rev. James Arbogast officiating. Burial was in Sunset Memory Gardens.

Robert Homer Knotts, 72, of Mulberry, Fla., died Friday, June 6, 2003, at an Orlando, Fla., hospital.

He was born in Beaver Falls, Pa., the son of the late William Bryan and Eda Stump Knotts. He was a 1949 graduate of Beaver Falls High School and was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran. He retired after 20 years with Fiber Industries, now Kosa. He was an active genealogist, having researched many families, and he donated all his work and papers to Calhoun Public Library, where a genealogy room was named in his honor. He was a member of Woodleaf Baptist Church, Salisbury, N.C.

Surviving are three sons, Edwin Knotts of Darlington, Pa., Robert William Knotts of Seven Springs, N.C., and Robert Homer Knotts, Jr., of Cleveland, N.C.; one daughter, Kristina Renee Adkins of Salisbury; 12 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; one brother, Richard E. Knotts of Chippewa Township, Pa.; one sister. Elizabeth Knotts Rhodes of Darlington; and many nephews and nieces.

He was preceded in death by one son, William Bryan Knotts of Cleveland, and two brothers, William Bryan Knotts, Jr., of Beaver Falls and Andrew Dean Knotts of Rochester.

The body was cremated and ashes buried in Salisbury Military Cemetery.

He was born at Minnora, the son of the late Greeta Madge Baker and Perry Edward Knotts. He was a retired auctioneer and furniture store operator. He was an instructor for auctioneering and was a member of K of P Lodge, Gallipolis, and the National Auctioneer Association.

Surviving are his wife, Daisy E. Slayton Knotts of Gallipolis; two daughters, Kris Moore of Columbus, Ohio, and Donna Jean Harless of Gallipolis; three sons, Ronald E. Knotts, Jr., and David Lee Knotts, both of Gallipolis, and Stephen Allen Knotts of Fremont, N.C.; 13 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, two brothers, Harry Baker Knotts of Auburndale, Fla., and Carroll V. Knotts of Belpre, Ohio; and two sisters, Fern Deel of Parkersburg and Glenna Dale Carpenter of Orma.

He was preceded in death by one grandson, Brian Knotts, and one great-granddaughter, Tory Tilley.

Graveside services were held at Centenary Cemetery with Jane Ann Miller officiating.

She was born in Calhoun County, the daughter of the late Andrew Jackson Bland and Laura Johnson Bland. She was a member of Buckhannon Chapter, Order of Eastern Star, and First United Methodist Church, Buckhannon.

Surviving are one son, Stephen K. Knotts of Ripley; three daughters, Karen L. Fillingame of Mercer, Pa., Bernita K. Epling of Ripling and Karla S. Upton of Marie; one brother, George Lawrence Bland of Mt. Zion; and nine grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Bernard Knotts; three brothers, John H. Bland, Andrew "Jack" Bland and Charles "Noel" Bland; and one sister, Mary Z. Walsh.

Services were held at Poling-St. Clair Funeral Home, Inc., with Rev. William McMorran and Rev. Mark Flynn officiating. Burial was in Buckhannon Memorial Park.

Surviving are her husband of 72 years, Eucle Knotts; one daughter, Debbie Frey of Navarre, Ohio; one son, Robert Vannoy of Smithsburg, Md.; nine grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by one son, Calvin Knotts, and two sisters, Vervia Poling and Verna Fowler.

She was born at Letter Gap, the daughter of the late Arthur and Thelma Westfall Deuley.

She was a homemaker and a Baptist. She enjoyed singing at Upper West Fork Community Park.

Surviving are her husband, James Knotts of Orma; three brothers, Howard Deuley of Cedarville, Gerald Deuley of Big Springs and Arthur Deuley, Jr., of Grantsville; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty Harris and Hilda Deuley, and two brothers, Burl Deuley and Veral Deuley.

Services were scheduled Wednesday, 11 a.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Arnoldsburg, with Rev. Carl Marks officiating, and burial in Knotts Cemetery, Orma.

Ezra Eugene "Gene" Koon, 73, of Spencer, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, at Miletree Center, Spencer.

He was born in Calhoun County, the son of the late Ezra and Opal Carpenter Koon.

Surviving are three daughters, Betty Moore and Cathy Nutter, both of Spencer, and Joyce Matics of Luray, Va.; four sons, Jimmy Koon and Michael Koon, both of Spencer, and Anthony Koon and Brian Koon, both of Stanley, Va.; two step-sons, Kevin Williams of Virginia and Jamie Williams of Hampton, Va.; 20 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; one sister, Katie Waggoner of New Franklin, Ohio; and one brother, Charlie Coon of Norton, Ohio.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Sandra Koon.

Services were held at John H. Taylor Funeral Home, Spencer, with Rev. Frank Vannoy officiating. Burial was in Carpenter Cemetery, Hur.

MARY KRAMER

Mary V. Kramer, 97, of Parkersburg, died Wednesday, Feb. 25, 2009, at her home.

She was born in Calhoun County and graduated from Williamstown High School and University of Maryland School of Nursing in 1937. After doing private duty for years, she worked at St. Joseph's Hospital and, before retiring in 1976, began the epidemiology department. She was an active member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, serving as Eucharist minister for years.

Surviving are two sons, Henry J. of Shepherdstown and Fred C. of Houston, Tex.; one daughter, Mary Ellen of Bridgeport; and many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 74 years, Henry, in August, 2008.

Mass of Christian Burial was held at St. Francis Xavier, with Father Eric Hall as celebrant. Burial was in Mt. Carmel Cemetery.

Betty L. Krugman, 73, of Pennsboro, died Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2007, in Parkersburg. She was born March 5, 1934, at Munday, the daughter of the late Clarence Maze Sr. and Nona Rose Maze.

She was a homemaker and had operated Krugman's Greenhouse. She was a 1952 graduate of Calhoun County High School and a member of the Brooksville Baptist Church. Surviving in addition to her mother are three daughters, Linda Mackey, D.O., of Lexington, Ky., Marsha Krugman of Pennsboro and Gail Krugman of Grantsville; two sons, Thomas Krugman of Painted Post, N.Y., and Mark Krugman of Little Hocking, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Justin Rexroad, Kaitlyn and Ben Krugman, Zach, Ethan and Emily Krugman and Kayla Krugman; two sisters, Connie Lahman of Conway, S.C., and Karen Richard of Green Seas, S.C.; and brother, Roger Maze of Johnson City, Tenn. She was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Krugman; two brothers, Clarence Maze Jr. and Blaine Maze; and two grandchildren. Services were held at McCullough-Rogers Funeral Home, Pennsboro, with Rev. Bill Law officiating. Burial was in Maze Cemetery, Munday.

Thomas A. Krugman, 48, of Painted Post, N.Y., formerly of Munday, died Friday, Nov. 27, 2009, in Grantsville. He was born in Elyria, Ohio, the son of the late Norman and Betty Maze Krugman.

He graduated from West Virginia University with a bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering. He was a project manager in Green Laser Division of Corning, Inc., Corning, N.Y., and former mechanical engineer at Corning Consumer Products Division of Corning, Inc., Charleroi, Pa., and Anchor Hocking Glass Co., Lancaster, Ohio.

Surviving are his wife, Rhonda L. Stump Krugman, two sons, Zachary and Ethan, and one daughter, Emily, all of Painted Post; one brother, Mark Krugman of Little Hocking, Ohio; three sisters, Gail Krugman of Grantsville, Marsha Krugman of Pennsboro and Linda Mackey of Lexington, Ken.; maternal grandmother, Nona Maze of Columbus, Ohio; and several nieces and nephews.

Services will be held Thursday, 1 p.m., at Stump Funeral Home, Grantsville, with Rev. William Law and Rev. Roger G. McKee officiating.

Burial will be in Maze Cemetery, Munday. Visitation was scheduled Wednesday, 6 to 8 p.m., at the funeral home.

Johnnie Roberts Kuhl, 88, of Letter Gap, died Saturday, Jan. 27, 2007.

He was born in Gilmer County, the son of the late Melville and Hattie Tallhammer Kuhl. He was a U.S. Air Force veteran, having served in England, France, Germany and Belgium, and earning the rank of Staff Sgt. and numerous medals. He worked as operator senior for 36-1/2 years for Consolidated Natural Gas Co., Jones Compressor Station, Lockney, before retiring in 1983. He was a member, deacon and moderator of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Stumptown. He was a member of Gospel Tones Quartet, W.Va. Baptist Goldeneer's, Gilmer County Farm Bureau, Gilmer County Senior Center, 1st president of Normantown High School Alumni Association, 4-H leader, active in Little League program, and served 21 years on the Gilmer County ambulance board.

Surviving are his wife, Wilda Moore Kuhl, whom he married Aug. 13, 1950; two sons, Michael of Weston and Kenneth of Texas; one daughter, Faye Chambers; seven grandchildren; two great-granddaughters; and special relatives, Chester Sholes and Richard Turner.

He was preceded in death by four sisters, Flossie Kuhl, Ressie Sholes, Alda Godfrey and Geraldine Belknap.

Services were held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church with Rev. Timothy Underwood and Rev. Herbert Smith officiating. Burial was in Collins Community Cemetery, Stumptown.

RUSSELL KUHL

Russell V. Kuhl, 94, of Normantown, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2001, at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital, Parkersburg.

He was born in Gilmer County, the son of the late Phillip A. and Mary Bennett Kuhl. He retired from Hope Natural Gas Co. in 1969 with 28 years of service, and was a farmer. He was a member of Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Stumptown, for many years and served as trustee.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Deloris and Dean Furr of Letter Gap; three sons and daughters-in-law, Bobby and Ruth Kuhl of Ashland, Ohio, Billy and Radene Kuhl of Walker and Bryle and Linda Kuhl of Barberton, Ohio; and one daughter-in-law, Mescal Kuhl of Normantown; nine grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Edith Jewell Collins Kuhl; two sons, Bernard D. Kuhl and Ronal Lee Kuhl; six brothers; and three sisters. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Services were held at Mt. Pisgah Baptist Church, Stumptown, with Rev. Mark Watkins and Elder Charles Fisher officiating. Burial was in Collins Community Cemetery, Stumptown.

DORTHEA KUNZELMAN

Dorthea Hamilton Morgan Kunzelman, 27, of Darlington, Wisc., died in a hospital near her home on Thursday, Sept. 22, 1949.

She was born in Grantsville, the daughter of Amos E. and Mary Hamilton Morgan, now Bridgeport, and granddaughter of Minnie Hamilton of Grantsville. Before entering the service as a WAC in World War II, she was employed by Hope Natural Gas Co., Clarksburg.

Surviving are her husband, George C. Kunzelman of Alma Center, Wisc., whom she married in October, 1945; one son, Freddy; one brother, Richard Morgan; and one sister, Mary Correan Morgan of Bridgeport.

Services were held at the Methodist church in Bridgeport of which she was a member. Burial took place in Benedum Cemetery.

Relatives attending the services from Grantsville were Mrs. Minnie Hamilton, Grace Long, Miss Minnie B. Hamilton, Mr. and Mrs. Lorentz C. Hamilton, Lorentz C. Hamilton, Jr., John M. Hamilton, Mrs. Robert Hamilton, Harold C. Hamilton, and John M. Hamilton. Attending from Minnora were Rex Carpenter and Mrs. George Hamilton and son John.
